The May 16th, edition of IMPACT Wrestling earned an overall year low rating of 0.84, down 17 percent from last weeks overall rating.  The show averaged 1.05 million viewers overall, which is also down from last weeks overall viewership of 1.27 million. 



It should be noted that IMPACT did have some very stiff competition last night, as the NBA Playoffs Game between The New York Knicks and the Indiana Pacers, which had an overall viewership of 4.6 million viewers.

 
 
Nevaeh

Recently, Shimmer wrestler Nevaeh has been dealing with injuries and illnesses. Due to her not feeling 100% for the past few months, she has decided to take a little break from wrestling for 12 days to give herself time to rest up and recover. She plans on returning to the ring on May 31 for Girl Fight Wrestling where she will take on Lil’ Naughty in Charlestown Civic Center in Charlestown, Indiana. Other female wrestlers scheduled for the event include Miss Dark Shadow, Thunder Kitty, Miss Natural, Leva Bates, Candi Devine and more. Tickets are only $8.00 and bell time will start at 7:30 P.M.

The event will also be on iPPV. Nevaeh also wrestles for Rockstar Pro Wrestling in Dayton, Ohio. We wish Nevaeh all the best during her time of healing and recovery.


 
 
WWE NXT Logo

Since their following NXT releases this morning, some of the ones released have spoken out about the situation via Twitter. Former NXT Diva, Anya spoke out on Twitter saying that she is not giving up on wrestling. Anya is currently injured with a broken arm and can’t wrestle anywhere until she is fully recovered. In the mean time, she is excited to be the godmother to her best friend’s baby. Anya has a background in kickboxing and martial arts.

Audrey Marie also finally addressed her release on Twitter, stating this is not the end but merely the beginning, which gives the impression that Audrey will not be giving up on wrestling either.

Brandon Traven agrees with Audrey Marie that this is the beginning. Traven has been doing his best to try and stay positive, stating that things happen in life for a reason.

Briley Pierce has been trying his best to stay positive by joking about the situation, saying that the phone call regarding his WWE release was probably the most funniest and entertaining “You’re released” phone call in WWE history. He also joked to his real life brother, Dolph Ziggler, asking him if he needed a personal assistant and that his resume has great credentials, besides the last part of it. His brother commented back saying he had heard many good things about his brother in NXT, stating how hard working and entertaining he was.

Derrick Bateman stated he was fine about his release and that he is now available for independent bookings.

Sakamoto posted a statement on his Twitter account, thanking WWE and the people at NXT for everything and wishing them goodbye.

Percy Watson has yet to give any comments regarding his release from WWE.


 
 
Zema Ion

On his Official Twitter Account former TNA X-Division Champion Zema Ion had some stomach troubles this past Wednesday, which turned out to be much more serious than the orginally thought.

"Good morning! Ended up goin to the hospital afterall last night. And long story short....it was one of the smartest things i could have done"

Ion went to the hospital and it was revealed that he had suffered appendicitis, which resulted in his appendix being removed.  Further Cat Scans showed he had a tumor on his colon, which at this time is not known to be cancerous.  Ion posted an update last night which can be seen below.

The Rock

It is being reported by Wrestling News Source on Facebook that WWE NXT wrestlers, Anya, Brandon Traven and Percy Watson have been released from their contracts. Also, Audrey Marie’s release has been officially confirmed.

TNA President Dixie Carter says she is unsure if WWE would be up for it but she would love to do a crossover with them and TNA.

WWE Superstar The Rock will be starring in a new Marvel film. He will be playing the role of Luke Cage.


 
 
Stephanie McMahon

WWE Diva Rosa Mendes will be getting her first action figure. The action figure is made by popular toy company, Mattel. Her action figure will be available in retail stores sometime within the next month.

WWE Executive Stephanie McMahon recently attended the USA Network’s Upfront Presentation to look at their new show schedule. WWE Superstars Alberto Del Rio and Sheamus were also in attendance.

Former WWE Diva Michelle McCool and her husband, WWE Superstar The Undertaker will be posting video blogs this summer to answer questions from fans.

Former WWE Women’s Champion Trish Stratus has revealed on her official website all of the names of people she wanted to thank during her Hall of Fame speech that were listed on her scroll. Some of the names on the list included many former WWE Divas such as Jazz, Ivory, Jacqueline, Debra and Torrie Wilson. She also listed the WWE Universe, Fit Finlay, Jim Ross, William Regal, Jonathan Coachman and Sgt. Slaughter, among many others.

Trish also was recently interviewed about junk food. She stated that it is important to avoid unhealthier sugary foods such as soda and that it would be better to opt for orange juice instead. She also supports the idea of governments legislating warning labels on junk food, as many people do not bother to consider the unhealthier things they are putting in their bodies. She encourages others to educate themselves about how to avoid fatty foods and remain physically fit.

It has been noted that Layla El isn’t the only WWE Diva whose mother struggled with breast cancer. WWE Announcer Lilian Garcia recently discussed her mother’s struggle with the deadly disease as well. Lilian’s mother had cancer in 1989 and today is cancer-free. Lilian described the situation as something that was hard to see her mother going through. She also went on to say how strong her mother has always been.

WWE Superstar Booker T announced on Twitter that he is auctioning off a signed WrestleMania 28 backstage pass on EBay. The proceeds from the auction will help benefit a fundraiser. He also noted that he had elbow surgery at the end of April.

 
 
Alberto Del Rio

WWE Superstars Alberto Del Rio and Ricardo Rodriguez showed their support for the Be A Star Campaign during a rally at Hodge Elementary School in Raleigh, North Carolina. They encouraged students to not be bullies and to speak to an adult when they see bullying happening.

WWE Diva Layla El was featured on this week’s edition of WWE Hangout, despite technical difficulties. She spoke out about how she felt she wasn’t going to be able to come back from her injury last year but she did learn from it.

She also said she was scared about getting hurt again after re-training herself. Layla said she thinks that The Shield is going to have the biggest night at Extreme Rules and that they will do whatever it takes to win. Layla also stated that it won’t be easy but she sees Triple H winning at Extreme Rules against Brock Lesnar.

Layla also said she thinks John Cena will beat Ryback at the pay-per-view, despite John’s injury. She later discussed her community work with Susan G. Komen saying it was a positive, touching and inspiring experience. She stated that there is hope for survival and she firmly believes a cure for cancer can be found. Layla said she wants to do everything she can to help prevent young ladies from getting cancer. She says she misses her mother who died of breast cancer but she feels that she made her mother proud that day.

The host of WWE Hangout, Howard Finkle told Layla that he admires Layla being so involved in WWE’s charity work. Layla then stated that her Union Jack ring attire she recently wore in London, England will be auctioned off. All the proceeds from the auction will go towards the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Layla also mentioned who she is thankful to work for that helped her in the ring. Some of the names she mentioned included former Divas Trish Stratus, Victoria and Mickie James. She also stated that former WWE Diva Michelle McCool helped her so much and that she misses her best friend in the WWE. She also said Fit Finlay had a major impact on her WWE career.

Layla also discussed that she has good in-ring chemistry with most of the people she’s worked with in the ring including former WWE Divas Melina Perez, Kelly Kelly, Beth Phoenix and Brooke Adams. Layla said she loves working with Aksana and can’t wait for her to get her time to shine. Layla said if she wasn’t a WWE Diva today, she would want to be a criminologist because that’s what she wanted to be when she was a child and she was always intrigued by it.

Layla also said the reason she left England was because her first boyfriend of three years cheated on her so she decided to travel the world and become a dancer on a cruise ship. She also said she can see either Randy Orton or The Big Show winning at Extreme Rules and that it will be an interesting match to see. Finally, she encouraged her fans to keep up with her on Twitter, Instagram and Tout, as she tries her best to respond back to them.

 
 
Amy Weber

Former WWE Diva Amy Weber has started a fundraiser on Kickstarter.com asking for donations for a music video she wants to produce to honor the military, firefighters, police officers and medical personnel who work hard every day to protect and save the lives of others.

She came up with a song called “Hero” and passionately feels that the song should be heard. Her goal is to reach $10,000 by June 17.

In the video she used to promote the fundraiser, she mentioned how people may know her from WWE. However, she stated that WWE would not allow her to use any footage of her for the video.

Amy wants all of the download proceeds for “Hero” to go to two charities that she is affiliated with, Hounds For Heroes and Operation Gratitude. She also has gifts for those who donate specific amounts of money. Some of those gifts include a free download of the song before it is released, autographed shirts, autographed posters, dinner with Amy, an opportunity to appear in the music video and a personal voicemail message from Amy herself and more. Amy has also recently performed for Relay for Life to support cancer survivors.

Former WWE Diva Beth Phoenix will be at the Legends of the Ring event on June 8 to sign autographs. She will also be bringing some of her art with her for fans to check out. The event will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Monroe, New Jersey. Other wrestlers scheduled to appear include Dusty Rhodes, Sting, Edge, Funaki, Shelton Benjamin, Koko B. Allie Parker

TNA Superstar Chavo Guerrero recently posted a photo of himself on Twitter at the Hola Mexico Film Festival.

Indy wrestler Allie Parker will be wrestling former TNA Knockout Winter today at Fighting Spirit Pro in Merced, CA at the Golden Valley High School. Bell Time starts at 8 P.M.

Tickets start at $10. Children that are 8 or younger get in free with a paid adult. Other wrestlers scheduled to appear include Brian Cage and Drake Younger.

Former WWE Diva Jillian Hall has an idea for WWE where they develop a program for their alumni so that they may go to college and get a degree; given that many times former WWE wrestlers tend to struggle after being released from the company. Most likely this idea will not happen but Jillian does support it.

WWE Executive “Big” John Gaburick is no longer employed with the WWE. He was the Vice President of Television Production. It is being reported that he left the company on his own accord. The company held a going away party for him and is reported to have left the company on good terms. Gaburick also had a role on the original season of WWE Tough Enough.

WWE is funding research to the Sports Legacy Institute at The Boston University Center for the Study of Traumatic Encephalopathy. The Sports Legacy Institute was founded by former WWE Superstar Chris Nowinski. The research is to find a proper treatment for the disease known as CTE that affected the late Chris Benoit. WWE will be donating 1 million dollars to sponsor the research.

Warner Bros. France will be releasing “Les Reines du Ring” (Queen of the Ring) on July 3. The film stars WWE Superstars The Miz, CM Punk and former WWE Diva Eve Torres. It is a comedy film that focuses on a woman recently released from prison and now working at a supermarket. While trying to rebuild her relationship with her son, she discovers his passion for wrestling. She then decides to train to be a professional wrestler, in which her co-workers help train her. Currently the film is not set to be released in the U.S.

WWE Legend Jake “The Snake” Roberts is reported to be taking acting classes. He has also been offered a role in an independent film.

WWE Superstar’s business manager Amit Swami has been arrested for assaulting a shopkeeper in India, Ajay Kumar on Thursday evening. Swami apparently only manages Khali when the WWE Superstar is in India. Swami is 40 years old.

The WWE Network is currently expected to cost anywhere from $9.99-$14.99 a month.

Former WWE Diva Kharma was recently spotted at The Dallas Bull club in Tampa for country line dancing. Considering her hard past, she seems to be in high spirits now.

It is being reported by WrestlingNewsSource.com and PWTorch.com that the WWE talents of Sakamoto, Briley Pierce, and Derek Bateman have been released. More releases are expected to come within the next few days. Currently Audrey’s release has yet to be confirmed but Bateman and Pierce have spoken out about their releases, confirming them.

Sakamoto’s release is also said to have been confirmed. Bayley has currently been rumored to be released. While these are only NXT stars, fans are speculating some cuts from the main roster if WWE is indeed during their Spring Cleaning this weekend.
